Southeast Asian nations celebrate traditional New Year

The Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisations (VUFO) Hanoi chapter in coordination with the embassies of Laos , Cambodia , Thailand and Myanmar held a friendship exchange in Hanoi on April 10 to celebrate the traditional New Year of the four countries.

Prominent among those at the function were VUFO Vu Xuan Hong and UNESCO chief representative in Vietnam Katherine Muller Marin.

NguyenThi Bich Ngoc, Vice Chairwoman of the Hanoi People’s Committee, sentNew Year’ greetings to Laos , Cambodia , Thailand and Myanmar andsaid that the special relationship between Vietnam and all fourcountries has developed well in recent years.

These countries’traditional New Year celebrations in Hanoi help Vietnamese peoplegain a better understanding of their neighbours’ culture, contributingto strengthening friendship and cooperation between the Vietnamese andpeople of the four other Southeast Asian nations in all fields,including economics, politics, and culture.

Participants at theexchange enjoyed traditional rituals, such as tying a thread aroundone’s wrists, splashing water and special cultural performances, as wellas traditional food from all four countries.

Shift to data-driven administrative procedures needs acceleration

Search efforts continue for Vietnamese fallen soldiers in Cambodia

During the 2026-2027 dry season, Teams K70, K71, K72 and K73 will continue their search and repatriation mission, striving to fulfil the target based on 185 pieces of information concerning 761 graves. Each team is expected to collect at least 100 sets of remains during each deployment.
