A stable religious situation has been seen in the southeastern region and nationwide in the first half of the year, with religious groups abiding by the law, said the Government Committee for Religious Affairs.

At a conference on the State management of religion in the southeastern region in the first half of the year and work allocated for the six remaining months, in Ho Chi Minh City on July 14, the committee said authorities at all levels have facilitated religious activities and religious services have attracted a large number of followers.

Religious organisations have expanded training of dignitaries, improved international relations through religious training courses and upgraded training establishments and places of worship as well as taken part in social charitable activities and patriotic movements in localities.

From now until the end of the year, the State management of religion will focus on thoroughly grasping the Resolution of the XI National Party Congress on religious work, enhancing its management in accordance with existing laws.

The committee will also continue its diplomatic fight relating to religion and human rights, resisting the abuse of religion to sabotage the great national unity and facilitating religious organisations’ involvement in international diplomatic relations and the celebration of the 30th anniversary of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha and others./.
