Vietnam’s southern region, which often sees almost no significant differences in temperature, has been experiencing an unseasonably cool weather due to a cold snap moving towards the region from the north.
According to the data released by the Southern Hydro-meteorological Centre, the lowest temperature was recorded at 16.8 degrees Celsius in Tay Ninh province early on December 28 morning.
In the reviewed time, the temperature in Moc Hoa district, Long An province dropped to 18.2 degrees Celsius against an average level of 27-30 degrees Celsius during daytime while that in My Tho city, Tien Giang province was 19.4 degrees Celsius.
In Ho Chi Minh City, the temperature noticeably went down to below 18 degrees Celsius at night and early morning, the coolest over the past decade.
The cool climate continues till the first days of 2014, according to the centre.-VNA
