Vietnam and Lao jointly organised a friendly football match to celebrate the 55th anniversary of diplomatic relations and 40 years of signing of the Vietnam-Laos Treaty of Amity and Cooperation.

Vientiane (VNA) - The Embassy ofVietnam and the Lao Foreign Ministry jointly organised a friendlyfootball  match in Vientiane on August 18 to celebrate the 55th anniversaryof Vietnam-Laos diplomatic relations and 40 years since the signing of theVietnam-Laos Treaty of Amity and Cooperation.

The event was witnessed by Vietnamese Ambassadorto Laos Nguyen Ba Hung and Lao Foreign Minister Saleurmxay Kommasith.

After 90minutes of completion, the Lao Foreign Ministry’s team beat the VietnameseEmbassy’s squad 4-3.

The friendly match aims to enhance mutualunderstanding and strengthen the traditional and special friendship between thetwo agencies in particular and the two nations, in general.

The same day, the security sector of the twonations held a sport exchange programme as part of the activities to celebratethe 72nd National Day (September 2) of Vietnam and of the traditionalday of the Vietnam People's Public Security Force (August 19).-VNA
