The Ministry of Information and Communications in coordination with the northwestern province of Dien Bien issued a collection of postage stamps at a May 5 ceremony to mark the 60 th anniversary of Dien Bien Phu victory, which falls on May 7.
This is the seventh collection of its kind highlighting the triumph. The stamps, designed by painter To Minh Trang, depict the Dien Bien Phu Victory Statue and a blooming Bauhinia ( Ban ), the typical flower of the northwestern region.
As many as 1 million postage stamps worth 3,000 VND (0.14 USD) each were issued on the occasion.
Deputy Minister Truong Minh Tuan said the set of stamps helps instil national pride and improve the image of the country to foreign observers and Vietnamese people alike.-VNA
