State President Truong Tan Sang on August 25 received the newly appointed ambassadors of Turkey, Mexico, China, Switzerland and Laos, who presented credentials to him.
Meeting with Turkish Ambassador Ahmet Akif Oktay, President Sang expressed his wish that Turkey would strengthen trade cooperation with Vietnam and boost negotiations on the signing of investment protection and double taxation avoidance agreements with the Southeast Asian nation.
The Turkish ambassador highly valued achievements made by the Vietnamese people. He said the two countries should create opportunities for their people’s cultural exchanges and promised to try his best to boost bilateral ties.
At the reception for Mexican Ambassador Gilberto Limon Enriquez, President Sang expressed his belief that with their existing potential, cooperation between the two countries would develop further in the future.
The ambassador said that Mexico wants to hold talks between the two Presidents at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum this year as Mexico always wishes to boost diplomatic ties with Vietnam .
While meeting with Chinese Ambassador Kong Xuanyou, the Vietnamese State leader affirmed that with the tradition of friendly neighbourliness, the two countries’ ties will be further strengthened and consolidated. He stressed that Vietnam always attaches importance to the comprehensive strategic cooperation partnership with China .
Ambassador Kong expressed a wish that during his term of office, he would be able to help boost bilateral ties and strengthen mutual understanding and trust between the two peoples, contributing to stability and prosperity in the region.
Meeting with Swiss Ambassador Andrej Motyl, Sang affirmed that Vietnam always sees Switzerland as its important partner and expressed hope that Switzerland would help Vietnam improve its access to industrial, financial and commercial services to step up its international integration.
At the reception for Lao Ambassador Somphone Sichalenne, the Vietnamese President said that Vietnam would welcome and support its fraternal Lao neighbour in various fields.
The Lao diplomat pledged to make numerous contributions to reinforcing the Vietnam-Laos friendship. He expected the two countries to further cooperation based on their time-honoured traditional relations./.
