State President Truong Tan Sang spoke highly of the role of JICA Chief Representative Tsumo Motonori during his 2008-2013 working term in Vietnam.

The President gave a reception to the JICA Chief in Hanoi on May 23 before the latter says farewell to Vietnam.

Sang said he delights with the growingly developing relationship between Vietnam and Japan in politics, economics, trade, investment and cultural cooperation, as well as Japan’s wholehearted support for Vietnam through increasing official development assistance (ODA).

He also praised Japanese businesses’ efficient investment in the country, which is evidenced by increases in both investment quantity and quality.

Japan has been creating favourable possible conditions for Vietnamese products to gradually enter its market, Sang noted.

The President expressed hopes that in his new capacity as Chief Trade and Commerce Representative for Kansai, Tsumo will continue working for stronger cooperation between the region and Vietnam.

Tsumo Motonori took the occasion to thank the Vietnamese government, organisations and agencies for giving him the assistance he needed while working here.

He noted that Vietnam is his country’s important partner in Southeast Asia .

Japan will continue providing Vietnam with ODA in various fields, particularly for large infrastructural projects relating to the East-West Avenue in Ho Chi Minh City, a metro route and cosmological research center in Hanoi .

In the coming time, Japan will strengthen the training of high-quality human resources for Vietnam , added Tsumo Motonori.

Earlier on May 22, Tsuno Motonori has been awarded “For Vietnam's National Assembly" insignia for his contributions to the Vietnamese National Assembly’s activities.-VNA
