Ten people died and four others were injured when Storm Chanthu hit the mountainous northern part of Vietnamon the weekend, said the initial report of the Flood and Storm Control Steering Committee on July 25.
The victims, including a two-year-old, were reported in Lao Cai, Yen Bai and Cao Bang provinces, where roads, houses and crops were also damaged during heavy rainfall.
The storm also hit northern Bac Ninh, Hai Duong and Bac Giang provinces, with water levels on the Luc Ngan River rising rapidly.
