Tropical storm Nari has killed three people and injured 11 others after making landfall in the central region on early October 15, according to initial reports.
The three deaths are in Quang Nam province while the injured were reported in Da Nang City.
The storm has brought heavy rains ranging from 80mm-150mm in localities between Quang Tri and Quang Ngai.
In Da Nang City , the disaster caused power outage on large scale, forcing the suspension of the city’s two largest water supply factories - Cau Do and San Bay.
The entire Quang Nam province has also suffered blackouts since October 14 night.
The typhoon has damaged thousands of houses and schools, rooted a lot of trees and submerging many roads in Tam Ky and Hoi An cities.
Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Cao Duc Phat, head of the National Steering Committee for Flood and Storm Prevention and Control, has instructed local authorities to promptly provide rescue aid to the victims and handle consequences of the storm.
The typhoon is forecast to move westward and weaken into a tropical low pressure, triggering torrential rains in many northern, central and Central Highland localities in the next hours.-VNA
