Stranded foreign ship towed ashore

A foreign vessel stranded in the waters off Binh Thuan province has been towed ashore, according to the provincial Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control on July 2.

Binh Thuan (VNA) – A foreign vessel stranded in the waters off thecentral province of Binh Thuan has been towed ashore, according to the Officeof the provincial Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention andControl on July 2.

Chemroad Journey, flying the Cayman Islands flag, was stranded on June 10 at alocation some 73 nautical miles from Phan Thiet city and 28 nautical milessouth of Phu Quy Island when it was travelling from Singapore to China with 27crewmembers on board.

The vessel, with its loading capacity of 33,500 tonnes, was carrying some 700tonnes of fuel oil and 300,000 tonnes of chemicals.

After hearing the information about the stranded ship, the Ministry ofTransport promptly instructed the Vietnam Marine Administration and theNational Search & Rescue Committee and relevant bodies to jointlyimplement rescue activities.

From June 21 to July 1, nearly 510 tonnes of oil on the vessel were pumped intoits aft tanks to lighten it.

The ship owner also asked for permission to pump 8,000 tonnes of chemicals toSun Mercury ship.-VNA

Ministry proposes seven-day 2027 Lunar New Year holiday
