Three short films that won prizes in a film-making competition for Vietnamese students will join the Asian International Children’s Film Festival in Japan’s Minamiawaji city on November 30.
The three Vietnamese films were named the best among 35 three-minute entries from around the country tackling the theme of ‘School Violence’ at the competition on September 14.
The first winner was “Nam tram nghin dong” (500,000 VND) from Phan Chu Trinh Secondary School in Hanoi. It was followed by “Giac mo” (Dream) created by Hue High School in central Hue city. The third prize was awarded to “Nhung ngay toi truong” (Days at school) by the Birla Orphanage in Hanoi.
The Vietnamese event, co-organised by the Japanese Embassy in Vietnam, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and the Ministry of Education and Training, was one of a number of activities held to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Vietnam – Japan diplomatic ties.
A representative from the Japanese Embassy said the event, held annually, aims to encourage and nurture children’s greater interest in their surrounding social life and nature as well to become good citizens.-VNA
