Former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak has described Vietnam as a prime example of how reform, courage, and determination could transform its harsh circumstances into a remarkable development success story.
Sharing the same view, Dr. Kambiz Ghawami, President of the World University Service (WUS) Germany, affirmed that over the past 80 years, Vietnam has developed from a nation standing on the sidelines of international politics to a country that is respected and committed to pursuing multilateralism.
Prof. Hill said that ASEAN membership opened the door for Vietnam to learn and engage with the region, and more importantly, Vietnam knew how to combine regional integration with domestic reforms, noting that the Doi moi (renewal) process launched in 1986 laid a foundation for Vietnam to effectively seize opportunities brought by ASEAN.
Vietnam has demonstrated a strong transformation from a poor country to a middle-income nation with impressive growth, while significantly improving the quality of life for its people across all aspects.
Half a century since the war's end and national reunification, Vietnam remains committed to building on the achievements of Doi moi (Renewal) and deeper international integration while staying determined to implement strategic breakthroughs and major national policies to herald a new era of national development.
