The Health Ministry presented the insignia “For People’s Health” to Gerd Stuckmann, doctor from the hospital of the Kantonsspital Winterthur University of Switzerland at a ceremony in Hanoi on Sept. 6.
Kantonsspital Winterthur was awarded the title in recognition of Stuckmann’s great contributions to personnel training for the Vietnamese health sector, especially the diagnostic imaging area.
From 1996, Kantonsspital Winterthur in coordination with Prof. Hoang Duc Kiet, now President of the Vietnam Radiology and Nuclear Medicine Society, set up a training programme on diagnostic imaging for Vietnamese doctors at the hospital of the Kantonsspital Winterthur University, which has so far trained 20 doctors.
During this period, the Swiss doctor coordinated with colleagues from Switzerland , Germany and Austria to train Vietnamese doctors through short-term courses in Vietnam.
He also helped the signing of deals on study cooperation between the hospital of the Kantonsspital Winterthur University , Hanoi Medical University and the hospital of Hanoi Medical University./.
