Symposium looks into Vietnamese’s conception of happiness

A symposium was held in Hanoi on March 17 to gain an insight into Vietnamese people’s conception of happiness, an activity in response to the International Day of Happiness (March 20).

Hanoi (VNA) – A symposium washeld in Hanoi on March 17 to gain an insight into Vietnamese people’sconception of happiness, an activity in response to the International Day ofHappiness (March 20).

Speeches at the event, held by the Ministryof Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences,focused on theories and academic viewpoints on happiness; the necessity of researchon happiness; the conceptions of happiness from the religious, ethnological andgender angles; feasible solutions to design family-related criteria and buildfamily happiness; social welfare and literature and arts’ impacts on thehappiness of Vietnamese people.

Deputy Minister Dang Thi Bich Lien said theInternational Day of Happiness was designated in June 2012 and Vietnam has beenorganising activities to respond to the day since 2013 with a view to buildinghappy families, happy communities and a happy society.

The study of Vietnamese people’s happinessand the building of a happiness index will help affirm the country’s commitmentto the world and demonstrate its cultural identities amid internationalintegration. That will also help policy makers to devise development strategiesand manage the society’s development, she added.

Assoc. Prof. Le Ngoc Van from the Institutefor Family and Gender Studies said though happiness research has become ascience in the world, it is still new in Vietnam. The country should study andmeasure the conception and the enjoyment of happiness and make a happinessindex for Vietnamese people.-VNA

Phu Quoc launches English classes for vendors, drivers ahead of APEC 2027

Under the project “Enhancing foreign language capacity for the community in the 2026–30 period, with a vision to 2045”, recently announced by the Phu Quoc Special Zone authorities, English programmes will be piloted at 10-15 schools across all three education levels from September 2026 to June 2027.

An Giang takes zero-tolerance approach to IUU fishing

Singer, media executive charged over YouTube music copyright infringement

The Investigation Police Agency under the municipal Public Security Department said on August 5 that it had prosecuted and placed in temporary detention Nguyen Thi Hien, owner of the YouTube channel Phuong Diem Huyen, and Nguyen Thanh Hiep, Director of Unicorn Vietnam Media and Entertainment Co., Ltd., for investigation on the charge of infringing copyright and related rights under Article 225 of Vietnam's Penal Code.

Vietnamese students shine at AIMO 2026 international finals
