Thai Nguyen (VNA) – A symposium has been hosted by Thai Nguyen University as part of the Aus4Skills scheme, known as Vietnam-Australia Human Resource Development Partnership, to share experience in building and developing sustainable linkages between enterprises and universities.
The October 23 event also introduced models for enterprise-university cooperation and proposed ideas for such models to succeed in Vietnam while providing more opportunity for strengthening connection and partnership between the two sides.
Linkages between enterprises and universities would benefit both sides, Prof. Dr. Pham Hong Quang, Director of Thai Nguyen University told the Symposium on Promoting Sustainable Linkages between Enterprises and Universities held in the northern province of Thai Nguyen.
Enterprises act as providers of information to help universities understand labour market requirements; meanwhile, universities’ programmes need to be relevant to demands of the society, including those of enterprises, he said. That’s why universities must stay connected with enterprises.
The Aus4Skills offers support to Vietnam in improving quality of the workforce, especially senior officials and female officials, in ethnic minority areas; enhancing quality of education; increasing the success rate of ethnic minority students; and promoting women in leadership, according to Brendon Brooker, Second Secretary of the Australian Embassy in Vietnam.
Delegates to the event focused discussions on enterprise-university cooperation in Australian universities and the government’s role in maintaining this partnership; RMIT University’s practice in partnering with enterprises in Australia and Vietnam; and enterprise-university cooperation in training and technology transfer./.
