Thua Thien-Hue (VNA) – Sustainable preservation of the Nguyendynasty’s royal tombs in the complex of Hue imperial relic sites must be madein companion with the protection of natural landscapes in Huong River’supstream area.

The information was heard at an international symposium jointly held by the HueMonument Conservation Centre and Japan’s Waseda University in Hue city, thecentral province of Thua Thien-Hue on March 20.

Phan Thanh Hai, Director of the Hue Monuments Conservation Centre, noted thatnatural landscapes are significant to the UNESCO-recognised complex of Huemonuments, of which Huong River has become a special element to connect thecomplex. Thus, the landscapes around Huong River must be utilised in anappropriate way, he added.

According to Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dang Van Bai, managers should prioritise naturallandscape protection in the master plan on the complex management.

Meanwhile, Prof. Dr. Satol Shigheru from Waseda University said that technicaldevelopment will help the locality safeguard the historical environment.

The complex of royal tombs and Huong River’s upstream area hold great tangibleand intangible cultural values like agricultural products, perceptions,beliefs, religions and festivals, which are all grafted to Huong River.

Participants at the event shared research results on the values,characteristics and potential of the cultural and eco-historical landscapes ofthe Nguyen Dynasty’s royal tombs and Huong River’s upstream area in order tofind the best solutions to protecting landscapes at the complex of Huemonuments.-VNA

Hanoi proposes subsidies to accelerate shift to electric vehicles
