The Hue royal court music has been recognised by UNESCO as a masterpiece of the oral and intangible heritage of humanity in 2003.

Hue folk singing is a variation of Hue royal court music, played on traditional musical instruments with the singers dressed in the ao dai (traditional long dress).

The Culture and Sports Department in Hue city, the central province of Thua Thien-Hue, has signed an agreement to coordinate with the city’s Education and Training Department to add Ca Hue (Hue folk singing) to the academic curriculum in local schools.
