Deputy finance minister Do Hoang Anh Tuan instructed the GeneralDepartment of Taxation's (GDT) Inspectorate to audit the firms named inthe Anti – Money Laundering Information Centre's list this month. Thefirms can possibly evade paying more than 50 billion VND (2.347 millionUSD) in taxes.
Municipal and provincial taxationdepartments will be responsible for investigating those who can possiblyevade taxes of less than 50 billion VND.
Tuan saidthat the audit results must be submitted to the GDT and the Anti-MoneyLaundering Information Centre within 45 days of receiving the Anti-MoneyLaundering Information Centre's list.
According to theGDT, the tax agencies collected an additional 4.119 trillion VND or193.38 million USD in the first half of 2014, up 80.8 percent year onyear after the audit of 20,983 firms.
During theperiod, the agencies also investigated 557 firms which had declaredlosses and showed signs of transfer pricing, and collected an additional580 billion VND or 27.23 million USD.
The GDT reportedthat the country's tax collection in the first half of the year was335.09 trillion VND or 15.73 billion USD, up 14.5 percent year over yearand equal to 53.7 percent of the annual tax collection target.Forty-six of 63 cities and provinces nationwide met more than half oftheir tax collection targets in H1.
To increase the taxcollection in the second half of the year, finance minister Dinh TienDung asked the GDT to intensify the collection of tax arrears and totake bold measures against tax evasion.
The GDT mustfocus on investigating suspect enterprises, and create favourableconditions for the production and businesses of firms by organisingregular dialogues to help them resolve their tax-related problems.-VNA
