The Tay Giang–Ka Lum auxiliary border gates linking Tay Giang district of central Quang Nam province with Ka Lum district of Laos’ Sekong province were inaugurated on April 25.
The opening ceremony, held in Ch’noc hamlet, Ch’om commune of Tay Giang was attended by the two countries’ central and provincial leaders, Vietnam’s Border Guard High Command and the High Command of Military Zone 5.
The pairs are built according to the provinces’ agreement reached at their annual meeting in 2010, and based on Article 18 of the Vietnam-Laos Agreement on National Border Regulations and the minutes of the 4th meeting of the two provinces’ joint committee for border marker planting on September 7, 2010.
Besides the Nam Giang-Dac Ta Ooc main border gates in the localities, the opening of the Tay Giang-Ka Lum border gate pair will boost economic and trade exchanges as well as people travelling between Quang Nam and Sekong, contributing to socio-economic development.-VNA
