Tay Ninh rangers release pangolins back into the wild

In a positive step for conservation efforts, two endangered Java pangolins (Manis javanica) were released back into the wild in the southern province of Tay Ninh on July 4, according to local rangers.

The pangolins, a priority species for protection due to their endangered status, were previously captured and surrendered by residents.

The two pangolins weighing 3.1 kg and 0.5 kg were handed over to the Tay Ninh Forest Ranger force, and the Mobile Forest Ranger and Forest Fire Prevention Team, respectively.

The same day, the force also released three monkeys, including a long-tailed macaque (Macaca fascicularis) and two pig-tailed macaques (Macaca leonina), both classified as endangered and rare species.

These monkeys had reportedly been causing disturbances in residential areas before being captured by local rangers./.
