Vietnamese embassies have been busy organising celebrations of traditional New Year – Tet – for Vietnamese expats across the world.

Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnamese embassies have beenbusy organising celebrations of traditional New Year – Tet – for Vietnameseexpats across the world.

On January 22, the Embassy in Kuala Lumpur hosteda gathering for Vietnamese people living in Malaysia, during which AmbassadorTran Viet Thai extended Tet greetings to the Vietnamese community.

He praised outstanding Vietnamese role models who have madegreat contributions to the community last year.

In a similar event in Algiers, Ambassador Nguyen Thanh Vinh said overseas Vietnamese people remain an inseparablepart of the country. He highly spoke of the Vietnamese expats’ contributions tothe homeland and valued their mutual support for each other during thepandemic.

Another get-together was held by the Embassy of Vietnam in Slovakiain the capital city of Bratislava on the same day, which gathered a largenumber of Vietnamese expats and associations in the European country.

In his opening remarks, Ambassador Nguyen Tuan thanked the Vietnamesecommunity for helping reinforcing the friendship between the two countries anddeveloping Vietnam.

Meanwhile, Ambassador to the UK Nguyen Hoang Long attended awarm Tet gathering held for the first time by the Vietnamese Society in Oxford,bringing together Vietnamese students and PhD candidates as well as professorsand lecturers from the University of Oxford.

Long said he expects the partnership in education andtraining between Vietnam and the University of Oxford will grow further,particularly in research./.

Da Nang to replace 1,140 dilapidated houses by May 2025

The total budget for the project to eliminate temporary and dilapidated housing in Da Nang this year is estimated at 47.4 billion VND (1.85 billion USD). Of this, 30.3 billion VND will be sourced from the state budget, while the remainder from the for the poor fund and other fundraising efforts.

Nearly 9,000 blood units collected at red spring festival

First launched in 2008 to address post-Tet blood shortages, the festival expanded nationwide in 2010 under the direction of the National Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation Campaign. Over 17 editions, the festival has attracted hundreds of thousands of donors across the nation, with the Hanoi event – hosted by the institute – collecting nearly 120,000 blood units.

Vietnamese, Chinese localities promote exchanges

The New Year meeting, which was first held in 2016, and the Joint Working Committee’s meeting, initiated from 2008, have proved efficiency, leading to significant common understandings regarding exchanges and cooperation among the parties.

Homeland Spring held for OVs in Bangladesh
