Beyond its charitable significance, the programme also aims to introduce domestic and international visitors to the unique cultural values of Vietnam’s traditional Tet, while raising public awareness, particularly among younger generations, of the responsibility to preserve and promote the cultural identities of Vietnam’s ethnic groups.
The Naval Region 2 Command, headquartered in Long Son commune, Ho Chi Minh City, held a meeting on January 15 to assign tasks to a working delegation of journalists ahead of their departure to visit and extend Lunar New Year (Tet) greetings to officers and soldiers stationed on the DK1 platform, vessels on duty at sea, and Con Dao Special Zone.
Under the allocation plan, 5.28 billion VND will fund 5,280 Tet gift packages for near-poor households and those living in difficult circumstances. Each package contains 1 million VND in cash, with wards receiving 30 each and communes receiving 50.
Beyond traditional gift items, Tet gift hampers this year feature a variety of creative designs and concepts, catering to the evolving tastes of modern consumers.
The gift level of 600,000 VND will be presented to individuals who participated in revolutionary activities before January 1, 1945 and are receiving monthly allowances; Heroic Vietnamese Mothers receiving monthly preferential allowances; Heroes of the People’s Armed Forces and Labour Heroes during the resistance wars who are receiving monthly allowances.
The Hanoi VFF Committee will advise on and coordinate Tet visits and gift-giving activities by central and city leaders; organise working delegations to deliver gifts under the city’s unified programme; and facilitate connections with businesses and benefactors to mobilise additional support for disadvantaged people.
