Thai Cabinet gives green light to many economic measures

Bangkok (NNT/VNA) – Thailand’s cabinet on May 14 passed resolutions onseveral issues, ranging from the transfers of high-ranking government officialsand measures for oil palm growers to measures for business operators.

The cabinet approved extension to the registration period for a reduction incorporate income tax for Special Economic Zone operators from 20 percent to 10percent from January 1, 2018 to December 30, 2020.

The Ministry of Commerce reported measures of the Ministry of Agriculture andCooperatives and Ministry of Interior to cope with the low prices of oil palmand found some 208,000 tons of raw palm oil at extracting factories.

The measures called for the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand to purchasepalm oil for the production of electricity and increased household consumptionof palm oil in order to reduce the palm oil in stock with the purchase of100,000 tons of palm oil within this month.

The purchases will be continued in the following months until the stock hasbeen emptied. The Ministry of Commerce will see to it that the palm oil priceswill not be manipulated by opportunist traders and adversely affect oil palmgrowers. Besides, the Ministry of Energy has promoted the use of B20 diesel bymaking it available at 300 gas stations nationwide.

The cabinet approved three categories of service for which the employment ofmigrant workers will not require legal permission, including the lendingbusiness between affiliated firms in the country, the leasing business foroffice buildings and related facilities and the consultation between affiliatedfirms in terms of management, marketing, human resources and informationtechnology.

The cabinet approved the transfers of Sutthi Sukosol from the post ofDepartment of Skill Development Director General to that of Ministry of LaborPermanent Secretary, Suchart Phornchaivisetkul from the post of Ministry ofLabor inspector general to that of Department of Skill Development DirectorGeneral, Soranit Siltham from the post of Ministry of Science and Technology tothat of Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and InnovationPermanent Secretary.-NNT/VNA
