Bangkok (VNA) - Thailand's Crown Prince Maha Vajiralongkorn has accepted the invitation to ascend the throne as King Rama X, said Deputy Prime Minister Prawit Wongsuwan on November 30.

The Deputy PM told the press that everything has been done in accordance with regulated procedures.

Earlier on November 29, the National Legislative Assembly (NLA), the Thai Parliament, officially invited the Prince to come to the throne.

Once the Prince formally accepts the invitation from the parliament, he will be proclaimed King Rama X, succeeding his father, late King Bhumibol Adulyadej, who had ruled for 70 years and passed away at the age of 88 last month.
