Bangkok (NNT/VNA) – Thai Labour Minister Adul Sangsingkeo held talks with the Israeli ambassador to Thailand about a temporary employment programme of Thai farmers in Israel.
The labour minister welcomed Israeli Ambassador to Thailand Meir Shlomo and engaged in a discussion to promote cooperation between both countries.
He said he discussed with the Israeli ambassador the temporary hiring scheme of Thai workers in the agricultural sector in Israel which is arranged as a government to government cooperation, where Thailand has requested Israel to take care of the social security by deducting a part of salary as a saving for Thai workers after the end of employment, the provision of annual health check, and the elimination of issues involving middlemen in order to provide optimum protection to Thai workers.
Since 2010, the Thai government has established an agreement with the Israeli government, and has since 2012 sent Thai workers to work in the agricultural sector in Israel. A total of 28,442 Thai persons have participated in this scheme.
He added that there has been no report of any issue faced by Thai workers in Israel, adding that there will be a seminar on Thailand-Israel cooperation in February which will help enhance the bilateral ties.-VNA
