Bangkok (NNT/VNA) - The Prime Minister of Thailand has urged foreigners who seek employment in Thailand to apply for a work permit before the end of June, stressing that the government strictly follows the international rule of law when taking care of alien workers in the Kingdom.
He reminded local employers of the importance of registering alien workers including those from Cambodia, Laos and Myanmar. He also underlined that the process will help Thailand keep track of foreign workers in the nation and provide assistance for them more effectively.
The Thai Ministry of Labour earlier set up one-stop service centres across the country to facilitate the registration process which ended on March 31.
Migrant workers whose nationalities and medical conditions have not been checked will have to go through all procedures until the end of June. Those who have not completed the process are urged to contact a one-stop service center.
A total of 1.3 million migrant workers have registered with the government from February 5 to March 31. About 960,000 of them have been verified and can stay in the Kingdom until 2020. The remaining 470,000 must be processed before the end of June.-VNA
