Thai Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha (Photo: malaysiandigest.com) Bangkok (NNT/VNA) - The Thai Prime Minister has made human rights protection a national agenda, in order to reduce human rights violations in the country.
Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha said the government aims to protect human rights in order to promote national peace and order, boost credibility in the international community, and create an environment that is suitable for a democratic system of international standards. He said the government has continued to educate the public of their rights and duties and has refrained from infringing upon people's rights.
He said the 2017 Constitution enshrines the protection of human dignity, rights and freedoms and individual equality. The government has made human rights a national agenda, in order for state agencies to collaborate in enforcing human rights protection according to international standards.
The premier has acknowledged that human rights violations do exist in the country and said the government has continued to crackdown on such violations by clearly identifying sectors that require enforcement and opening channels for people report suspicious activities to the authorities. - VNA
