Bangkok (VNA) – Thai Princess Maha Chaktri Sirindhon paid a visit to the Vietnamese Embassy in Bangkok and attended a ceremony to launch a pictorial book on Vietnam’s beauty on May 28.
Vietnamese Ambassador to Thailand Nguyen Tat Thanh said that this was her first visit to the Vietnamese Embassy, noting that it is a significant event among a series of activities to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Vietnam-Thailand diplomatic ties (August 6, 1976-2016).
The bilingual pictorial book, entitled “Vietnam through the lens of Princess Maha Chaktri Sirindhon”, was compiled by the Vietnamese Embassy in Thailand. It includes 100 photos depicting the beauty of Vietnam, 60 of which were taken by the Princess during her visits to Vietnam from 1993-2015.
The book also features photos of the Princess’s meetings with Vietnamese leaders and people, photographed by Vietnam New Agency reporters.
Published on the 40 th anniversary of Vietnam-Thailand diplomatic ties, the book is a demonstration for the growing strategic partnership relations between the two countries.
The Thai royal member also attended a ceremony to inaugurate the embassy’s exhibition room displaying objects and documents on the two nations’ relations as well as the history of the overseas Vietnamese community in Thailand. The room will open to Vietnamese expats and Thai people.
This year marks a noteworthy milestone in Vietnam-Thailand relations. A line-up of activities will be organised throughout 2016 to celebrate the event, including painting exhibitions, book publishing, conferences and setting up twinning relationship between the two countries’ provinces.-VNA
