Bangkok (VNA) – A small bomb exploded in Ratchadamnoen Avenue in downtown Bangkok capital city of Thailand on April 5 evening, wounding two street cleaners.

Police said the bomb went off at 8:00 pm when the cleaners were emptying rubbish bins in front of the former headquarters of the government lottery agency.

They added that the bomb was detonated by low-yield gunpowder, which caused minor damage. They also neutralised another bomb found near the blast.

It's not an act of terrorism or an act to stir unrest, national police chief General Chakthip Chaijinda said.

The blast occurred on the eve of Thailand’s enactment of the new constitution and a public holiday marking the 235th anniversary of the Chakri Dynasty’s reign. - VNA
