Bangkok (VNA) – Thai police announced on April 2 that they busted a major drug trafficking ring in Songkhla province, seizing 651kg of crystal meth worth 17 million USD.

They arrested a suspect who was carrying drugs to the Malaysian border and an accomplice in Phitsanulok province, both of them Thai nationals.

Police also confiscated two pick-up trucks and three mobile phones.

The suspects are alleged to be part of a transnational drug trafficking ring called Phor Liang Tee, which is believed to engage in drug and human trafficking.

Recently, Thailand has busted many large-scale drug trafficking rings. In late 2017, the country destroyed some 17 tonnes of drugs worth more than 500 million USD.-VNA
