Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim on the same day affirmed that Malaysia would serve solely as a coordinator in the peace talks between Thailand and Cambodia, without imposing any conditions, in order to ensure the negotiations proceed smoothly.
Cambodia’s Ministry of National Defence said preparations are underway for the upcoming Regional Border Committee (RBC) meeting between Cambodia’s Military Region 4 and Thailand’s Army Area 2.
A deputy spokesperson of the Thai Ministry of Public Health reported that, as of 21:00 on July 24, 14 people had been confirmed dead and 46 injured in military clashes near the Thailand–Cambodia border. Cambodia has yet to release any official figures on casualties.
The upcoming meeting of the Thai-Cambodian Joint Boundary Committee (JBC), scheduled for June 14, will focus on technical matters related to maintaining the boundary status quo until a formal resolution is reached.
