Thailand-Cambodia railway bridge inspected

Cambodia’s Minister of Public Works and Transport and the Thai Ambassador to Cambodia have observed the construction of a Thailand-Cambodia railway bridge, aiming to enhance connectivity in ASEAN.

Bangkok (VNA/ NNT) – Cambodia’s Minister of Public Works and Transport and the Thai Ambassador to Cambodia have observed the construction of a Thailand-Cambodia railway bridge, which aims to enhance connectivity among ASEAN member states.

Minister Sun Chanthol and Ambassador Nattawut Potisaro visited the construction site of the Ban Khlong Luk - Poi Pet railway bridge to inspect the construction progress after major tasks have been completed. The construction is expected to be completed this November.

The 7- kilometre bridge links Thailand and Cambodia by rail. Its construction is also proceeding in parallel with the building of Nong Ian - Stung Bot border crossing facility in Banteay Meanchey province of Cambodia.

The Ban Khlong Luk - Poi Pet railway bridge will service both the transportation of goods and people in the ASEAN region, and is expected to help relieve the congestion in border crossing.-VNA

The port city of General Santos suffered the heaviest damage, with disaster management officials confirming seven fatalities and about 130 injuries after several small buildings collapsed and multiple structures, including a key bridge, sustained severe cracks. The remaining five deaths were recorded in South Cotabato, Davao Occidental and Balut Island.
