– Thailand has seized 48 Vietnamese fishermen and a trial on the case is expected to begin at Chon Bu-ri provincial Court on April 4, Deputy Commander of Thailand’s First Naval Area Command Rear Admiral Rangsarit Sattaynukul said at a press conference on April 3.

Thailand’s First Naval Area Command announced at the press conference that the fishermen on five Vietnamese fishing vessels were seized for illegal fishing offshore Chon Bu-ri province on April 2.

This is the largest capture of Vietnamese ships and fishermen in Thailand so far.

Five caught fishing boats are the KG92039TS, CM95018TS, CM1511TS, CM99107TS and CM99667TS.

The Vietnamese Embassy in Thailand has sent officials to the province for citizen protection work.-VNA
