
Hanoi (VNA) – Thailand has decided to extend thestate of emergency, introduced in 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic, foranother two months, according to its centre for COVID-19 SituationAdministration (CCSA).
The online newspaper Krungthep Turakij quoted CCSA SpokesmanTaweesin Visanuyothin as announcing on July 8 that the state of emergency has beenextended from August 1 to September 30, 2022. The decision is based on the needto continue to control the spread of the SARS-CoV-2 virus and the concern forthe public's health.
According to Taweesin, Thailand should be ready to recogniseCOVID-19 as an endemic disease.
The CCSA’s data showed that there are currently 25,082COVID-19 patients being treated in hospitals across Thailand. It records about 2,000 new cases and 20 deaths from the disease each day in theSoutheast Asian country./.
