Bangkok (NNT/VNA) – Thailand and Laos have launched an annual campaign to prevent and address forest fire between both countries.
The Governor of Chiang Rai, Prachon Prachsakul, welcomed a delegation of 30 people from Laos during the launch at Phu Chi Fa Forest Park in the northern province of Chiang Rai on Feb 18.
The event, organised by the Chiang Rai Provincial Office of Natural Resources and Environment, was attended by a large number of people.
During the dry season from December to May every year, Chiang Rai and the border area between Thailand and Laos often suffer from forest fire, which causes air pollution and affects people’s health in both countries.
The campaign aims at integrating cooperation between the two countries, which will also strengthen the bilateral relations.-NNT/VNA
