Bangkok (VNA) – The revenue growth of Thailand’s tourism industry in the third quarter is 627 billion THB (17.9 billion USD), up 12 percent from the same period last year, according to the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT).

The number of visitors in the quarter increased 13 percent to 8 million, including 2.4 million Chinese tourists, 1.2 million from the European Union and 2.2 million tourists from Southeast Asian countries.

However, tourism growth in the last quarter is forecast to drop to just 1.3 percent in revenue to 610 billion THB (17.45 billion USD), as the government has issued a limitation on entertainment activities following the death of King Bhumibol Adulyadej.

The total revenue of Thailand’s tourism industry in 2016 is forecasted at 2,490 billion THB (71.27 billion USD), still higher than the set goal of 2,400 billion THB.-VNA
