Thailand to take part in ILO’s 100th anniversary

Thailand will be among 24 nations taking part in the centennial anniversary of the International Labour Organisation (ILO) next month.
Bangkok (NNT/VNA) - Thailand will be among 24 nations taking part inthe centennial anniversary of the International Labour Organisation (ILO) nextmonth.

Labour Minister Pol Gen Adul Saengsingkaew said the Thai government hascontinued to provide solutions to labour related problems, boasting that thecountry’s approach to protecting labourers has been praised by the worldcommunity. For this reason, Thailand has been invited, among 24 countries, totake part in the live telecast of the ILO’s 100th anniversary on April 11. Onthat day, Thailand will have 1 hour, from 10am to 11am, to show the world whatit has achieved in labour protection and improvement.

Other Asia-Pacific countries, expected to join Thailand in the live 24-hourbroadcast of national events, include the Philippines, China, Sri Lanka,Bangladesh, India and Fiji.

To celebrate the centenary, Thailand will host an event at the Ministry of Labour’sheadquarters in Bangkok, featuring a publication on the relationship betweenThailand and the ILO, international labour treaties the country has ratifiedand steps Thailand has taken to enhance the labour sector.

Founded in 1919 by the United Nations, the ILO brings together governments,employers and workers from 187 member states to set labour standards, developpolicies and devise programs promoting decent work for all women and men.–NNT/VNA

Thailand’s business activity shows signs of gradual recovery

As of August 31, Thailand had more than 1 million active legal entities with total registered capital of 24.13 trillion THB.
