Thua Thien-Hue (VNA) – The three central localities - Da Nang City, Thua Thien-Hue and Quang Nam - will work together to revive tourism, one of the sectors most affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Under a deal signed in Hue city, Thua Thien-Hue on May 30, the three localities agreed to together boost tourism after the pandemic by strengthening linkages and cooperation in the industry and promoting strengths of each locality.

Thua Thien-Hue, Da Nang and Quang Nam plan to adopt more preferential policies to effectively implement the joint tourism stimulus programme which seeks to promote themselves as safe and friendly destinations among visitors.

They also committed to offering good deals and discounts to tourists and travel agencies while connecting their own products to develop a regional chain of tourism services and advertise them on local and central media channels.

Speaking at the signing event, Director of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism Nguyen Trung Khanh said the joint tourism recovery programme is responding well to Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc’s order to boost domestic travel and the programme “Vietnamese people travel Vietnam” initiated by the Minsitry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to adapt to the “new normal” after the coronavirus is brought under control.

This move demonstrates determination of local leaders to boost tourism in not only central Vietnam but also throughout the country, he added.

Khanh urged tourism associations and travel companies to closely cooperate to translate the programme into reality and create new exciting products for holiday-makers.

The three localities are renowned for the world’s most beautiful beaches and cultural heritages, such as the Hue Monuments Complex, Hue Royal Court Music, Hoi An Ancient Town and My Son Sanctuary.

Last year, they welcomed a total of over 10.9 million domestic visitors and 10.37 million foreign travellers./.
