The Mekong Delta province of Tien Giang raked in 792 million USD from exports in the first two quarters of this year, shooting up 22 percent from the same period last year, according to the provincial Department of Industry and Trade.
About 60 percent of the provincial exports were contributed by foreign-invested businesses in the locality, which are effectively operating and have won many contracts with partners, the Department said, adding that stellar growth in the first six months will create an impetus to foster exports in the final half of the year.
The province is striving to earn 858 million USD from exports in the remaining of the year, bringing the total export value to 1.65 billion USD, surpassing the yearly plan by 3 percent and rising 11.5 percent from the whole year of 2014.
To realise the target, the province is promoting inter-province and inter-region cooperation while seeking ways to broaden export markets. It is also encouraging domestic and foreign-invested enterprises to further trade promotion and renew technology lines to improve product quality.
Tien Giang has created favourable conditions for enterprises to study foreign markets and seek potential partners through organising promotion fairs both in the country and in foreign nations.
Key exports of the province including handbags, leather shoes, garments, processed aquaculture and rice shipped to countries in the Americas, the EU and Asia.-VNA
