Hanoi (VNA) –General Secretary of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party (LPRP) CentralCommittee and President of Laos Thongloun Sisoulith, his spouse and ahigh-ranking delegation of the Lao Party and State, began an officialfriendship visit to Vietnam on June 28.

The two-day visit wasmade at the invitation of General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam(CPV) Central Committee Nguyen Phu Trong and State President Nguyen Xuan Phucand their spouses.

This is the firstoverseas trip by Thongloun Sisoulith in his capacity as Lao Party GeneralSecretary and President for the 2021-2026 tenure. The visit also aims toimplement consistent foreign policy Laos and Vietnam in reserving and promotingthe great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation of thetwo countries.

During his trip, theLao leader will meet with Vietnamese high-ranking leaders and witness thesigning of cooperation agreements between the countries.

The Vietnam visit bythe top leader of Laos will provide an opportunity for the two sides to furtherexchange experience in development, and seek measures to push ahead with theimplementation of high-level agreements between the two Parties and countriesin 2021 and the years to come./.
