Hanoi (VNA) - A total of 12,985 traffic accidents claimed 6,048 lives and injured 9,652 others in the first 11 months of this year, representing significant annual declines of 18.2, 13.2, and 20.5 percent.

According to Office Chief of the National Committee for Traffic Safety, Nguyen Trong Thai, 7,345 road accidents during the period left 5,932 dead and 3,921 injured, down 10.3, 13, and 13.6 percent year-on-year, respectively.

Meanwhile, 63 people were killed and 20 injured in 79 railway accidents.

Fifty-nine accidents on waterways claimed the lives of 43 people and injured seven others, while ten people were killed in 12 maritime accidents./.
