Traffic safety conference to be held next January

A conference on traffic safety will be organised in Hanoi on January 17, 2014 with the participation of numerous domestic and foreign scientists and managers, according to National Traffic Safety Committee.

At the event, the delegates are scheduled to discuss scientificresearch outcomes and share experience in ensuring traffic safety aswell as application possibility in Vietnam.

They will propose concrete measures for traffic safety and order in the country for the years to come.

Thecommittee said traffic safety, transport infrastructure, means oftransport, traffic participants and post-traffic accident response aretopics that dominate the conference.

Research and feasiblesolutions for the control of overloaded vehicles, the management ofroadway, pavements and parking lots in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City aswell as the replacement of public transport means for individual oneswill be tabled.

The conference will also announce researchoutcomes of legal norms regarding the management of transportinfrastructure along with analysing shortcomings and bottlenecks in thisfield.

The committee encourages agencies, units, organisations,scientists and managers both at home and abroad to make reports andpropose initiatives in ensuring traffic safety.

The assembly comprises a main bridge structure weighing about 1,400 tonnes and a specialised steel supporting frame weighing around 2,000 tonnes. During testing, about 30 self-propelled modular transporters were used to lift the assembly 40cm off the ground for technical inspections. Sensors and monitoring equipment recorded key parameters.

Its key features will include animal habitats modelled on natural ecosystems, veterinary and research facilities, educational exhibitions and recreational areas. Green spaces and water bodies will cover about 81.8% of the site, providing ecological corridors and suitable habitats for wildlife.
