former Dien Bien Phu campaign headquarters in Muong Phang commune, Dien
Bien district, the north-western mountainous province of the same name,
on October 12.

Local mourners, some of them aged nearly 100, and those from neighbouring provinces of Hoa Binh, Son La and Lai Chau flocked to the site even before the start of the service at 7am.
