Kuala Lumpur (VNA) – Vietnam’s U23 team remains in Group D togetherwith Japan, Pakistan, and Nepal after a redraw of the men’s football at theAsian Games (ASIAD) 2018 was organised in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on July 25.
In the previous draw held in Indonesia on July 5, the U23teams of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Palestine were omitted.
Therefore, only UAE and Palestine have to participate in thismore recent draw held at the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) headquarters.
As a result, Palestine will compete with Indonesia, HongKong, Taiwan, and Laos in Group A, while Palestine enters Group E with Malaysia,the Republic of Korea, Bahrain, and Kyrgyzstan.
The men’s football is to set kick off on August 10 andfinish on September 2 in Indonesia.
At the ASIAD 2014 held in Incheon, the Vietnam team, underthe guidance of Japanese coach Toshiya Miura, progressed from the qualifyinground before losing to the UAE in the quarter-finals.
At this year’s ASIAD, the U23 Vietnam team hopes to earnanother triumph after coming in second at the 2018 AFC U23 Championship held inChina early this year. –VNA
