Within the framework of his official visit to Vietnam, UK Prime Minister David Cameron on July 29 called at the Vietnam Airlines Engineering Company (VAECO) in the Noi Bai International Airport where he had a look at an Airbus A350-900 aircraft recently delivered to the national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines.

After having some pictures with the aircraft, PM Cameron was welcomed by Vietnam Airlines General Director Pham Ngoc Minh and Rolls-Royce President Tony Wood at the Vietnam Airlines Engineering Company (VAECO) factory, where houses Rolls-Royce engines that are used to support the A350 fleet.

On this occasion, Vietnam Airlines and the British engine manufacturer Rolls-Royce sealed a deal to offer maintenance for Vietnam Airlines’ 14 A350 aircrafts.

Vietnam Airlines is the world’s second airline to fly 350-900 XWBs and the first in Asia-Pacific to use both Boeing 787-9s and Airbus A350-900s.

It will replace old aircraft with 19 Boeing 787s and 14 Airbus A350s that are scheduled for delivery between 2015 and 2019.

This year, the carrier will fly Boeing 787-9s on routes connecting Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi/Ho Chi Minh City to London and Frankfurt, and operate Airbus A350-900s on flight from Hanoi to Paris and Seoul.-VNA
