UN Coordinator presented with Friendship Order

At his meeting the same day, Deputy PM Khiem spoke highly of the UNofficial’s contributions to and important role in leading UN agencies inVietnam to carry out effective cooperation programmes and activitieswith the Southeast Asian nation in the areas relating to economicdevelopment, settlement of social issues, poverty reduction, promotionof gender equality and environmental protection.

He acknowledgedHendra’s great efforts in promoting cooperation between Vietnam and theUN in recent years, especially in enhancing the One-UN Initiative.

Hendra,who is also chief representative of the UN Development Programme(UNDP), expressed his pride in receiving the Vietnamese State’sFriendship Order and highly valued the country’s achievements onsocio-economic development and integration in recent years, as well asthe Government’s support in coordinating with UN agencies, including theUNDP./.

As of May 13, An Giang broke ground on 2,957 homes under this programme, including 2,453 new constructions and 465 renovations. The province has already completed and delivered 2,482 homes to residents. As much as 215.5 billion VND (8.3 million USD) has been mobilised for the efforts.

The two gold medallists are Tran Trung Kien, a 12th grader from the Hanoi-Amsterdam High School for the Gifted, who scored 169.25 points, and Nguyen Ngo Duc, a 12th grader from the Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted in Nghe An province, who scored 151.05 points.
