Vietnamese people are paying tribute to President Ho Chi Minh in many ways on the occasion of his 123 rd birthday anniversary (May 19).

In the President’s hometown in Kim Lien commune, Nam Dan district, central Nghe An province, the annual Sen Village Festival was officially opened on May 17 and will run until May 19.

As part of the festival, a photo exhibition on the Party and Uncle Ho was organised with 96 pictures on show, focusing on two topics, “President Ho Chi Minh and the work of building and setting right the Party” and “Soviet Nghe Tinh in 1930-1931”.

The same day, other events took place in Uncle Ho’s hometown, including a volleyball competition, a youth camping festival and kite flying.

In Ho Chi Minh City, an exhibition named “Ho Chi Minh – a bright example of morality” is being held in Lam Son Park, district 1 to give the city’s people and visitors a chance to learn more about the great leader’s simple lifestyle, principles and patriotism.

In the city’s Youth Cultural House on the same day, another exhibition is running until May 27 with the theme “Ho Chi Minh, whose name is the most beautiful”.

Also on the occasion, the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee on May 17 launched a tree planting festival with the aim to plant 1 million trees this year.

The southern province of Tien Giang also marks Uncle Ho’s birthday with a tree planting festival.

Meanwhile, in the southern province of Vinh Long, the province’s Youth Union held a ceremony to honour 135 young people, who are the best in implementing the campaign “Study and follow Ho Chi Minh’s moral example”.-VNA
