UNICEF launches parenting site on Father’s Day

The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) on June 14 launched a parenting website, bringing fathers together to share their parenthood experiences.

Hanoi (VNA) - The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF)on June 14 launched a parenting website, bringing fathers together to sharetheir parenthood experiences.

The event was made on the occasion of the Father’s Day which is observed acrossnearly 90 countries on June 17.

This is part of the UNICEF’s “Super Dads” campaign which is implemented to recognisethe role of fathers in their children’s early development.

UNICEF is calling for more support for fathers globally, including for policiesthat give parents time and resources they need to spend quality time with theirchildren. It also uses the Father’s Day to renew its call to break downcultural and financial barriers preventing fathers from spending quality timewith their young children.

The online site will bring together fathers from all over the world to sharetheir parenting tips, struggles, needs and successes. It features “miniparenting master classes”, the first of which highlights UNICEF Global Chief ofEarly Childhood Development Dr. Pia Britto explaining to Sasame Street’s Groverthe importance of protection, stimulation and good nutrition for healthy braindevelopment.

“Super Dads” campaign is intended to remind parents everywhere that whenfathers nurture their babies in their earliest years of life by providing loveand protection, playing with them and supporting their nutrition, theirchildren will learn better, have less behavioural issues, and become healthierand happier human beings.

 Joining in the campaign, Actor Xuan Bac,UNICEF Vietnam Goodwill Ambassador, said: “Spending more time and playing morewith children as well as do little things with them will help enhanceparent-child relationship and benefit their physical and psychologicaldevelopment”.-VNA

The remains of 12 Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts, who laid down their lives in different periods in Laos’ Savannakhet province, were repatriated following a handover ceremony on May 21. They will be re-buried at the Road 9 National Martyrs Cemetery in Vietnam's central province of Quang Tri on May 22.

Nghe An reburies martyrs' remains repatriated from Laos

Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Phung Thanh Vinh said that carrying a noble international duty, many Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts heroically joined Lao people in their struggle for national liberation and independence. Many of them sacrificed their lives in the country, including more than 12,000 soldiers laying down in the three provinces of Xaysomboun, Vientiane, and Xiangkhouang.

19 localities eradicate substandard houses
