US Congressman visits Vietnamese AO victims
Robert Earl Filner, a member of the US House of Representatives, arrived
in Ho Chi Minh City on Jan. 4, beginning an 8-day visit to Vietnam to
learn about the life of local AO victims.

Sen. Lieut. Gen. Nguyen Van Rinh, President of the Vietnam Association of Victims of Agent Orange /dioxin (VAVA), and Major-General Tran Ngoc Tho, President of the HCM City Association of AO Victims, welcomed the US congressman at the Tan Son Nhat International Airport .
During the visit, Filner will work with the VAVA and call at AO victims in Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang city and Ba Ria-Vung Tau, Quang Ngai and Quang Ninh provinces.
When he was Chairman of the US House of Representatives’ Committee on Veterans’ Affairs, Filner played a main role in proposing bills in support of US veterans who are AO victims.
In July 2011, he submitted the Victims of Agent Orange Relief Act to the US Congress.
The bill, also co-sponsored by nine other members of the US House of Representatives, has been introduced at the House’s six committees, including the Committee on Foreign Affairs./.
