US, DPRK leaders begin second day of summit in Hanoi

Hanoi (VNA) – US President Donald Trump andleader of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) Kim Jong-un convenedtheir meeting at Sofitel Legend Metropole Hanoi Hotel on February 28 morning.

Speaking to the media, Kim pledged to exert efforts to make thesummit fruitful.

Since their first summit in Singapore in June 2018,inter-Korean economic relations have progressed but still meet obstacles due tointernational sanctions and the US’s unilateral ones.

The second summit in Hanoi is expected to devise specificmeasures towards denuclearisation, thereby maintaining everlasting peace on theKorean Peninsula and the region.

The event is also hoped to open up a new opportunity toloosen sanctions and enable the DPRK economy to “take off”.-VNA
